This little puppy was inspired by something simple — the quiet comfort of someone sitting beside you. Instead of carving a detailed front expression, I chose to focus on the back view. The rounded shape, tiny tail, and collar detail feel soft and calm.
Sometimes the back tells more of a story than the face.
Each piece is hand carved from solid linden wood, a traditional carving wood known for its smooth grain and ability to hold gentle curves. Linden wood has long been used in Japanese and European folk carving because it allows clean shaping while preserving warmth.
After carving, I hand-finish the surface to keep the faceted knife marks subtly visible. They are not flaws — they are part of the handmade character.
This piece works beautifully as a small desk companion or shelf accent.
